| Ancient 'Gandharva Vivah' Exists in Himachal Pradesh as Elopement Marriages | |
People in Himachal Pradesh are known for keeping alive many traditions that find mention in ancient scriptures. “Gandharva Vivah”, mentioned in epic Mahabharata, exists here in the form of an elopement marriage.
The custom has it that the young couples eager to perform “Gandharva Vivah” are expected to elope and, later, settle for a proper marriage as per traditional rituals.

"It has been going on since the times of the 'Pandavas' (victorious clan in the legendary Mahabharata war). We bring the girls here after running off with them and marry them. This is our tradition and everyone celebrates it with great zeal and enthusiasm," said Arun Kumar, a resident.
The basic condition according to this marriage form is mutual love and consent by both—bridegroom-to-be and the bride-to-be. Ram Kumar is one such youngster who recently eloped with his girl friend and opted for “Gandharva Vivah”.
"We felt that we have been made for each other. And, we decided to run away from our homes. Today is our wedding day and it will take place in front of our local deity. We also have to seek the acceptance of our family members and in-laws," said Ram Kumar.
Bride's family and relatives are invited by the bridegroom's family for a traditional function prior to the wedding. It is then followed by a series of ceremonies.

The festival of NAVARATHRI, dedicated to Devi, the Divine Mother, also called as "DASSHERA" is celebrated all over India, and all over the World, with joy and enthusiasm, for nine days - the first three days, worshipping Goddess Durga, the second three days on Sri Lakshmi and the last three days on Sri Saraswathi and hence known as Navarathri.
The story of the creation of this Goddess DURGA is very interesting. The gods in heaven decided to create an all-pervasive being to kill the demon king Mahishasura who was on a killing-spree of devas. A stream of lightning dazzled forth from the mouths of Bramha-Vishnu-Siva and it turned into a beautiful, magnificent woman with ten hands and all Gods furnished her with their special weapons This Goddess DURGA also Lord Siva's consort, represents two forms of female energy - one mild and protective and the other, fierce and destructive. She is also described as " KALI ", as a symbol of SHAKTHI. As per orthodox Hindu conceptions, the personality of one diety cannot be entirely separated from that of another. As such, all three principal Goddesses Durga-Lakshmi -Saraswathi are worshipped, each for three days of the Navarathri, called Durgashtami, Mahanavami and Vijayadasami.

Officially the Church of England accepts the full and final authority of Holy Scripture as the basis for all that it believes. Some of these beliefs were summarised in the historic creeds, and at the time of the Reformation the Church adopted the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion as giving a concise and systematic statement of the teaching of Scripture.
Background
The legal definition of the Doctrine of the Church of England can be found in the Church of England (Worship and Doctrine) Measure 1974 which accords with what is also stated in Canon A5.
These state clearly that the doctrine of the Church of England is particularly to be found in the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion, the Book of Common Prayer and the Ordinal.

The Burning of Washington is the name given to the burning of Washington, D.C., by British forces in 1814, during the War of 1812. John F. Kennedy entered the White House hoping to make America and the world a better and safer place in which to live. Kennedy ultimately agreed to regular consultations between Israeli and American military personnel, but he would not agree to a dual alliance nor would he allow America to become Israel's main source of military equipment. The author contends that it was this precarious and uncertain diplomatic and military situation that encouraged Israel to develop its own defense industries and to investigate the possibilities of producing its own nuclear weapons systems.

In March 1963, Oswald used his alias "A. Hidell" (which he would later use for the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, and for which he was carrying an I.D. card when arrested after the Kennedy murder) to purchase the rifle later linked to the November 22, 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. The surplus Italian military rifle was purchased from Klein's Sporting Goods in Chicago, with a coupon taken from an ad in the February issue of American Rifleman. FBI and Treasury Department experts later matched the handwriting on the coupon and the envelope to Oswald. The rifle was purchased under "A. Hidell" but sent to a Dallas post office box rented by Oswald under his own name.

The Sicilians also have a law of silence, called omertà; it forbids the common man, woman or child to cooperate at all with the police or the government, upon pain of death.
